 “Gabriel” = “Mighty one of God” or “God is mighty.”

Gabriel is one of only three angels mentioned by name in the bible:

Gabriel

Michael

Lucifer

CHARACTERISTICS OF ANGELS:

*The glory they appear in causes fear (Luke 1:12; Daniel 8:15-18)

*they come from the very presence of god (Luke 1:19)

*sent with great news (luke2:8ff)

*they point continuously to God’s glory (rev. 4:6-11)

*they are ministering agents to the saints (Hebrews 1:1ff)

 THE VISITATION OF ANGELS IS AN EXTRAORDINARY AND FEARFUL EVENT:    (LUKE 1:12)   (DANIEL8:15-18)

THEY COME FROM THE PRESENCE OF GOD

The fact that Gabriel stands in the very presence of God almighty shows that he is one who is to be believed immediately.

THEY COME BEARING GREAT NEWS   (LUKE 2:8-12)

 THEY POINT TO GOD’S GLORY  (LUKE 2:13-14)  (REV. 4:6-11)

 THEY ARE MINISTERING AGENTS TO THE SAINTS  (HEBREWS 1:14-2:4)
